Wanda Barnett has qualified to run for the Superior Court judgeship to fill the seat of retiring Judge Curry Mingledorff. The seat is for the Piedmont Judicial Circuit, which covers Barrow, Jackson and Banks counties.
Barnett, the one of the first woman to practice law in the Piedmont circuit, has a long legal career in the area community. A graduate of the University of North Georgia and the Mercer School of Law, Wanda opened her own law firm in 1991 and has handled countless criminal and civil cases of the same type handled by the Superior Court each day.
Prior to opening her own firm, she worked for a couple of large law firms in the area handling complex litigation and local government issues.
At various times, she has represented the Jackson County Board of Commissioners, Planning Commission and Industrial Development Authority as well as the Cities of Arcade and Nicholson. She has also previously served as a Municipal Court Judge for the City of Arcade.
“Northeast Georgia is my home,” she said. “My family has been here for five generations now. I have practiced law here for nearly 40 years, helping everyday folks in their time of need. Taking care of clients requires personal attention to detail and some good old-fashioned common sense. That is what I do every day. No one is more experienced than I am with the kind of criminal and civil legal matters handled in Superior Court every day. I know what it takes to protect your rights. I will make sure the good guys always win. I also know there are a few rattlesnakes out there that want to harm you and your family. I know how to handle them too. I humbly ask for the vote of the people of Banks, Barrow, and Jackson counties to be their next Superior Court Judge with a solemn oath to always do the right thing and always do whatever is necessary to protect your family.”
The non-partisan election for Superior Court Judge will take place on Tuesday, May 21. Learn more about Wanda Barnett at WandaForJudge.com.
