The Apalachee Bar-B Cats Steak Cookoff is Feb. 17 at Apalachee High School. The event will include a car show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Booth spots are for sale to local vendors for $25 each. Contact Jay Roach at 706-410-4427 or jay.roach@barrowk12.ga.us.
The cookoff will include a two steak competitions (steak A and B), pork ribs, dessert and a kids pizza competition.
The Steak A or Steak B entry fee is $160, entry for both is $320. The entry fee for the dessert competition is $25, $50 for the pork ribs competition and the kids pizza competition is free to enter.
Each steak payout is $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place, $400 for third place, $300 for fourth place, $200 for fifth place and $100 for 6-10th place.
The rib and dessert competition payout is $175 for first place, $125 for second place, $100 for third place, $50 for fourth place and fifth place.
