The Carrollton-based bank that a year ago picked up all but a few of Peoples Bank’s properties is closing one of its Winder branches. Pat McGoldrick, director of business banking for Community and Southern Bank, said the branch at 279 N. Broad St. near the Ingles Market would close April 27.
Also on April 27, Community & Southern Bank will drop the name of the former Peoples Bank’s Latino division in metro Atlanta.
Branches of El Banco de Nuestra Comunidad (The Bank of Our Community) on that day will begin operating as branches of Community & Southern Bank.
In addition, three of the Latino branches will close – those in Forest Park, Roswell and Chamblee – and their operations will be merged with three remaining branches in Jonesboro, Woodstock and Norcross, McGoldrick said.
No other branch in or near Barrow County is being closed.
Community & Southern Bank: The North Broad Branch, the Newest and most Attractive branch, (although they did do a nice job with Downtown location across from the now vacant old Peoples Bank building)--This Branch has a Flaw that has prevented most customers from using it, therefore it is probably their Slowest, least used location...
WHY? Not Market Share (Yes, it is less than Peoples had) ****YOU CANT GET TO IT. They never cut a deal with Ingles for access from their Parking Lot, and it is in a curve, heavy traffic area, new restaurant across, but mainly IT IS A PAIN TO GET INTO & OUT OF PERIOD.
That's really too bad I would use it, I go past it and use Downtown.
NOTE: I still miss The Peoples Bank, Community & Southern Bank still has alot to learn about our community, I felt they needed to retain more people here in Winder, the "East Region Headquarters" on the Bank, but I am seeing some effort.
There are certainly plenty of familiar faces from Peoples , who are currently looking for work.
Could that happen? Can Chris still operate an FDIC bank or would he be legally exempted?
Being stuck in our ways? We like what we like, We would have left before but we didn't and Peoples had a massive market share for a reason.
People often do not like changes like that, we had a local dedicated bank, now we have a "out of town" HQ bank, that has a bigger picture than just Barrow County... People often like a Hometown Based Bank, TPB was that option for Barrow County, all the others were gone, bought out or closed, only Mega-Banks were the "other option". When C&S took over some left, some Stayed, I've stayed so far.
