What defines a winner? Is it based on success? Maybe it’s calculated by your stats or the number of wins you have.

Better yet, what defines a champion? Is it in fact how many championships you win? Is it even winning in general?

Here’s a question, can you be a champion if you have never won a championship?

A few months back, Mr. Fix-It and I took a little tour of the eastern seaboard of these great United States. It was one of those working vacation things — a couple of vacation days tacked onto each end of a work event.

I used to love working vacations when I was in sales. When the togetherness got to be a bit much, there was always a customer I needed to go check on for an hour or so. I learned that from my daddy who spent many a tail end of a family hoo-ha going to the drug store to take care of something that just had to be done before morning.

Now that I reflect on it, he went on a lot of Saturday nights when the store wasn’t open again until Monday. But he HAD to get that paper work done on Saturday night. But I digress...
Continue reading "PERSON: Punxsutawney or Bust!"

Controversial Winder City Clerk Sabrina Wall was removed from her job this week by the Winder City Council. In a called session Tuesday night, the council voted unanimously to appoint Gloria Andrews as the new city clerk. Andrews has been the assistant city clerk since October 2007.

The move comes four months after the council learned that Wall had taken action to challenge the voting rights of nearly 40 percent of the city’s voters. The subsequent fallout helped unseat former Mayor Chip Thompson and was reportedly one of the reasons Wall wasn’t retained as clerk for the new city administration.
