If the corporate office of CSX Transportation Inc. did cancel this week’s planned repairs to two of its busiest railroad crossings in Winder, it forgot to tell its crews scheduled to do the work.
Lt. Rob Curott, the Winder Police Department's operations commander, said last week that he had received a call from CSX telling him that the Broad Street crossing would be closed for repairs on Monday, April 2, and the crossing at Horton Street would close on Wednesday, April 4. He asked the Barrow Journal to help publicize the planned closings of the two busy crossings.
But when asked how long the work would take, CSX spokesman Gary Sease then told the Barrow Journal that the work had been postponed indefinitely.
However, CSX workers showed up this morning after all and closed the crossing at Broad and May streets.
