City of Statham officials will continue to allow big truck operators to use a parking area on Railroad Street, providing they are local residents.
During Tuesday night’s council meeting, code enforcement officer Randy Gordon said the objective is to keep the big rigs off the subdivision streets. He said there are typically only “one or two” trucks in town at any given time.
“We are concerned over the condition of our roads,” Gordon said. “Some of the roads they would be on are not wide enough.”
When parking in an area near the old Piggly Wiggly, drivers will just be allowed to park their rigs, not trailers.
