Auburn police responding to a noise complaint at a vacant house in Auburn’s Elk Grove subdivision early Sunday interrupted a party with underage drinkers.
Seven of the 17 people at the party were arrested for underage possession of alcohol.
Police arrived at the house on Elk Grove Drive shortly after 1 a.m., noticed some quick movement in the garage and in the house. Then the lights went out.
“Their first reaction was ‘let’s turn off the lights and maybe they’ll go away,’ which was kind of funny,” said Sgt. Mike Fugett.
Inside the darkened house, police found no furniture, but plenty of teens. Most apparently attend Apalachee High School.
“There was no one falling-down drunk; no one had reached that point, but it was going that way. It was headed ugly,” Fugett said.
Three of the teens at the party were found to be under the age of 17. They had not been drinking, but were taken to the police department to wait for their parents.
