Barrow County Schools will operate on a regular schedule for Wednesday, Feb. 18, officials said.
"All of our schools have had power restored, the maintenance department has checked them all out and everything is currently good for school to resume as normally scheduled in the morning," said superintendent Chris McMichael. "The school system would like to thank the hardworking employees of Georgia Power, Jackson EMC, and our own Maintenance Department for all they have done to make this happen while working out in these extreme conditions."
"We are very aware that some residents still do not have power and our principals will excuse tardiness or absences related to these issues tomorrow," McMichael added. "We strongly advise that each parent and guardian make the choice individually in terms of safety regarding their children in the morning. From what we are told and have observed, the majority of our community has power now and it is our duty to provide open schools for our students whenever possible."
