City of Auburn Mayor Linda Blechinger announced today that the City of Auburn has been awarded the Atlanta Regional Commission's (ARC) Community Choices Award.
As an award recipient, Auburn will receive help from the ARC as they begin work on the second part of the downtown overlay district.
The ARC will meet with elected officials and staff to identify concerns and needs for a detailed project proposal. The proposal will provide city officials with a blueprint for the downtown overlay district and a complete description of the scope of work involved to complete the project.
"Our downtown overlay district is just going to be so beautiful," Blechinger said. "It is going to capture Auburn. It's really going to preserve our history, but yet we'll have shops and restaurants in our downtown area and lots of different choices for housing. We'll have trails and sidewalks. It really is going to be beautiful. We're just so excited. I think everybody is just walking on cloud nine right now."
