The curtain fell on Georgia’s longest runoff campaign as voters in Barrow County sent two incumbent board of education members packing.
In District 4, Will Dunn was defeated by challenger Michael Shelley 375-200. With no Democratic opposition, Shelley will begin serving on the BOE in January.
In the District 1 BOE race, Republican challenger Debi Krause defeated long-time board member Randall Hollad 392-336. Krause will face Democrat Betty Kinney in the November general election. Regardless of who wins, District 1 will have a new BOE representative.
Holland had been on the BOE for almost 30 years.
