The Barrow County Board of Education will have somewhat of a new look come January.
Incumbent BOE members Randall Holland and Will Dunn were defeated in their respective Republican runoffs Tuesday. Holland lost to Debi Krause 392-336. Krause will have Democratic opposition in November.
Dunn was defeated by challenger Michael Shelley 375-200, a rather large margin to go against an incumbent.
Krause said she appreciated the help she received during the primary campaign and planned to take a few days off before preparing for the general election.
In the hotly contest GOP runoff for the 10th Congressional District, Jody Hice (26,959) appears set for victory as he was leading Mike Collins (22,673) with 24 of the 25 counties reporting at 10:40 p.m.
Hice carried Barrow County handily 68% to 31% (3,038-1,408).
Barrow County elections supervisor Monica Franklin said Tuesday's vote went without any problems. There was one voter who cast a provisional ballot.
