The 2014 runoff election will come to an end Tuesday, July 22, as voters make their choices known on which candidates will move on to the general election.
Two local races are being decided in the runoff as incumbent District 4 Board of Education member Will Dunn, a Republican, will look to fend off challenger Michael Shelly. In District 1, incumbent Randall Holland is facing Debi Krause in another school board runoff on the GOP ballot. The winner between Holland and Krause will have to face Democrat Betty Kinney in the general election in November.
There is also a hotly contested runoff for the GOP nomination in the 10th Congressional District, which includes Barrow County. Mike Collins and Jody Hice survived a seven-candidate primary and will now see which candidate moves on to face Democrat Ken Dious in the general election. The winner of the Collins-Hice runoff will be the clear favorite to win in November in the heavily Republican 10th District.
