Versie Alice Calloway Perego, 89, of Hoschton, died Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at Willow Wood Nursing Center, following an extended illness.
Born in Oglethorpe County, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice McDonald Calloway. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She loved life and spread laughter to all who knew her during her final years, loved ones stated. Mrs. Perego was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Melvin Gill; and daughters, Margaret Ann Gill Dyer, Betty Jo Gill Payne and Connie Lee Gill Wilson.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Diane Taylor, Gainesville, Janie Chumbler, Cleveland, Gloria and Larry Reinhardt, Hoschton, and Brenda and Glen Proctor, Las Vegas, Nv.; sons, Charles and Michael Gill, both of Gainesville; sister, Ethel Chambers, Flowery Branch; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 9, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Dr. James Ransom officiating. Burial will be at New Bridge Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 8, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
