Students have been getting grades for decades and now each school and each school system in the state also gets a grade.
For the second year, the state has given grades to every school in the state based on a complex formula of achievement, improvement, special education performance and achievement gap improvement. Some schools could also get extra points under certain circumstances.
The grades are based on the 2012-2013 school year.
Overall Barrow County schools were a “C” based on the formula. The county’s highest performing school was Bramlett Elementary School with an “A” grade of 92.2. The county’s lowest score was its College and Career Preparatory Academy with a failing grade of 44.7.
