Utility customers of Winder’s city government will pay significantly more for residential sewer service starting June 1.
The Winder City Council on Tuesday night adopted sewer rates recommended by a consultant who recently completed a water and sewer rate study.
Bobby Sills of Nesnick Enterprises Inc. recommended the following for households inside the city limits:
•Increase the monthly base charge for sewer service to $17.80. That charge currently is $11.56 per month.
•No longer include in the base charge the treatment of the first 2,000 gallons of wastewater. At a new flat rate of $4.50 per 1,000 gallons of usage inside Winder, every household using at least 2,000 gallons of water will see sewer fees jump by another $9 per month.
•Base that unit charge on 90 percent of a city household’s monthly water consumption. That charge currently is based on 80 percent of water usage.
