A Winder man was transported to the hospital after his neck was slashed while trying to defend a female companion.
The victim was walking with the woman on Wood Avenue when another man, Randy Joe Brown of 180 Georgia Ave., Winder, approached the couple and called the woman a “two dollar whore.”
Brown slapped the woman across the face and then slapped and shoved her male companion.
At that point, Brown pulled out a box cutter and cut the male victim across the throat.
After his arrest, Brown admitted slapping the woman, but denied that he intended to cut the man’s throat.
In statements to investigators, Brown claimed he was only trying to scare the man.
Brown claimed he had a sexual relationship with the woman and did not like the fact that she was seeing another man.
No further update on the victim’s condition was available at press time.
