The elections are almost over and things are beginning to settle back down.
It’s always interesting how much passion can be stirred up during an election. Emotions run high and people do and say crazy things when ramped up by political pressures.
One thing that always happens during elections is that newspapers, and the media in general, get flogged. We become the whipping boy for every perceived slight. When someone doesn’t like the message, they often attack the messenger.
So perhaps it is useful now to outline some of the core values of this newspaper and how we view our role in the community.
