After a lengthy set of questions from board members, the Barrow County Board of Education approved hiring Precision Planning, Inc. in a 6-2 vote as architect for the system’s upcoming capital outlay projects. Ten firms were considered for the job. But several BOE members grilled Perno about the recommendation. Board member Rickey Bailey asked Perno how he felt about the process used to select an architect. Perno replied, “We did our due diligence.”
But board member Lynn Stevens defended the process used. “It sounds like the process was fairer than what was done in the past,” she said.
