An Auburn man called the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office after his teenage son was shot with a BB gun.
According to the report, the teenager was bringing in the trash can from the end of the driveway when he felt something “sting” his leg.
When he looked up, he noticed a man standing outside the house next door laughing at him.
The man reportedly said, "Aww, that couldn't of hurt it was only a Daisy BB gun, I didn't even hit you."
The teenager returned to his house and told his father what happened.
The father said the perpetrator lived nearby. The father wanted the incident reported because he said the BB could have put his son’s eye out. The man added that the perpetrator “is around 28 years old and he should know better than to shoot BB guns at people.”
The incident remains under investigation.
I agree with the lady who says guns don't belong in nighborhoods
Your comment was so on-target (no pun intended) that I had to repeat it.
I for one is a NRA and belive BB Gun could be fun for kids, but that does not give any person to shoot anyone that are doing nothing to be shoot. I got one question for the three of you how would you like you child being shot while getting the trash can from the road and not bothering anyone and on his own property ? and if you say that it is okay to do that then you need parenting class or DEFACS called
The ordinance state that agriculture is zoned for hunting BUT it does not specifically state you can't hunt in residential. It DOES specifically state you have to be further than 50 feet from a public road to shot a gun.
This means that any fool with a gun can hunt inside a subdivision as long as he's more than 50 feet from the road.
It's because of fools that we have to govern people and make so many rules.
Laws and ordinances, themselves, come from the fact that we can't trust people to do what is right. As the fool with the BB gun has so aptly proven.
As it stands, you can be in your back yard shooting (as long as it's 50 feet from the road) and the sheriff can do nothing but ask you to stop. If you say no, they can't make you stop.
The current ordinance(s) needs to be changed to specifically state it is unlawful to shoot guns in an area zoned residential.
Barrow County needs an ordinance against shooting guns (any kind of gun) in areas zoned residential both within city limits and in unincorporated (outside the city limits)areas.
I checked the code and it's unlawful to shot a gun in a area zoned residential if you are within the city limits. However if you live in unincorporated (outside the city limits) Barrow County you can shot a gun in a area zoned residential.
There plain enough for you?
And it's the current commissioners who are making Barrow like Gwinnett. They just recently zoned for apartments - that's HIGH DENSITY! They go around happily zoning anything and everything residential.
If you want it to remain "country" then the undeveloped areas zoned residential need to be rezoned back to agriculture.
with a BB gun, Pellet Gun or any other kind of gun is
Aggravated Assault!!
Once a subdivision goes in -- shooting should not be allowed.
Once again population density is population density.
And since you don't seen to grasp that concept -- it means that houses are being built within 100 feet of each other. The number of people per sq mile increases depending on the number of houses built in the subdivision.
Once a subdivision goes in, it STOPS BEING COUNTRY SIDE AND BECOMES RESIDENTIAL.
Now we were told, because we like to shoot guns too, that as long as your 500 feet from a main road, on your own property and used COMMON sense you could shoot away. I think if you have more than 4 acres then yes you have enough area to set up a good shooting area, keeping in mind there is NO houses behind ya.
Now about this guy; I am sorry if this IDIOT shot my child with a BB gun that BB gun would be history.
The rules for property use, business regulation and where guns can and can't be fired were developed by the relator Chairman, the airport BOC and their GOB Lawyer...
They can be twisted to fit the situation so their Kin, Kind and Caste can use the weight of the state to enforce or not based on relation...
Why, If law's were clear, concise and enforced across the board more then one of their kind would be under investigation...
