Two men and a woman involved in an alleged love triangle were arrested by Winder police last week after creating a disturbance at the McDonald’s on North Broad Street.
When officers arrived, they found Jennifer McCormack, 29, crying and screaming in the restaurant parking lot. Her husband, Brian McCormack, 36, was attempting to calm her. According to the report, the husband was shirtless and had numerous scratches on his back and side.
A third man, Jerry McCranie, 22, immediately began walking away but was detained by another officer.
Jennifer McCormack told the first responding officer that she and her husband, along with her brother and McCranie, had been celebrating her birthday at Murphy’s Brass Rail when her husband accused her of having an affair with McCranie. McCranie and Brian McCormack left the restaurant together and Mrs. McCormack decided to go after them.
Mrs. McCormack and her brother found the pair at McDonalds and an argument ensued.
A Barrow County deputy witnessed Mr. McCormack and McCranie struggling on the ground and Mrs. McCormack and her brother trying to separate the two men.
Mr. McCormack said he did not hit McCranie, but did grab and shove him. Mr. McCormack was placed in the patrol car while the officer continued his investigation.
As the first officer was interviewing Mr. McCormack, McCranie began struggling with the other officer.
After dispatch advised that McCranie had an active warrant for his arrest out of Gwinnett County, McCranie attempted to strike the second officer and flee the scene. The officer “was able to take him to the ground and get him handcuffed.”
Once McCranie was back on his feet, he again attempted to run and, according to the report, “was again taken to the ground.”
Before placing McCranie in his patrol car, the officer found a bag of suspected marijuana in McCranie’s pocket.
At that point, the first responding officer noticed Mrs. McCormack banging on the window of his patrol car while crying and “being extremely boisterous.” She was arrested. Once in handcuffs, Mrs. McCormack began crying and asked if she could use the restroom. The officer explained there was no restroom in the area, so McCormack sat on the ground and urinated on herself.
Jennifer and Brian McCormack were charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. McCranie was charged with disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, obstructing a police officer and possession of marijuana.
