The Winder City Council has a called meeting at 6 p.m. tonight, Aug. 13. The primary reason for the meeting is to change the retirement system for all new city employees. The new plan would be a “defined contribution plan” to which the city contributes a percentage of the employees’ salaries, instead of the “defined benefit plan” through the Georgia Municipal Association. Also on the agenda are amendments to sections of the code of ordinances regarding water and gas utilities. The meeting is open to the public and will be at the Winder Community Center.
