For the second time in two years, the Winder City Council has taken advantage of the economic downturn to make a deal it couldn’t refuse.
Last year, the council bought at auction the former operations center of the failed Peoples Bank and turned it into the new City Hall.
Tuesday night, the council voted to allow the Winder Public Facilities Authority to purchase for $600,000 the privately owned Chimneys Golf Course operation off Highway 11. The council also appropriated $150,000 for operations.
