Fannie Gunter Phillips, 77, of Toccoa, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008.
Born in Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Esvan and Beulah Graham Guest. She was a member of New Town Baptist Church and was a retired seamstress. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Gunter Sr.
Survivors include daughters, Carol Gunter Post, Gillsville, and Cathy Gunter Davis, Athens; a son, Mitchell Gunter Jr., Toccoa; sisters, Margie Dudley and Clora Pulliam, both of Carlton, Jeanie Vandeburg, Boone, N.C.; brother, Herman Guest, Carlton; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 21, at 2 p.m., at New Town Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Guest, Hurb Sneddon and Chuck Black officiating. Burial will be in the Carlton City Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church to lie in state from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 21, prior to the service. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, March 20, at Berry Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Waymon Yarbrough, Steve Yarbrough, Danny Yarbrough, Mike Davis, Mark Guest and Tony Lastinger.
