Powerless to stop the county seat’s march south to Hwy. 316, the Barrow County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday night raised no objections to annexation applications that will extend Winder’s city line south of Highway 316.
Among the annexation applications, which are scheduled for final approval by the Winder City Council on May 7, are three for properties owned by the Chris Maddox family. The properties extend the city’s boundary east to Harry McCarty Road and south to Carl-Bethlehem Road. The other Winder annexation applications on Tuesday night’s agenda include 3 acres at 670 Loganville Hwy.; .99 acres at 75 Monroe Hwy., and 1.49 acres at 178 Carl-Bethlehem Road.
