A Gwinnet County man was arrested for reckless driving after using Hwy. 316 as a test track.
A Barrow County deputy clocked the man travelling in excess of 110 miles per hour with a laser, more than 45 miles above the posted limit of 65 mph.
When asked why he was driving at such a high rate of speed, the Lawrenceville man replied, "I just got the bike and wanted to see what it will do.”
He was arrested.
“Broken” speedometer leads to arrest
A Monroe woman was stopped by a Barrow County Sheriff’s deputy for travelling 102 mph in a 65 mph zone.
According to the report, the woman quickly overtook another vehicle before making an abrupt lane change “endangering both their safety as well as the occupants within the vehicle.”
When asked why she was driving so fast, the woman said she did not believe she was going “that fast.”
“My thing (pointing at the speedometer) does not work," she said.
The woman was charged with reckless driving and speeding and taken to the Barrow County jail.
