A Barrow County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to the jail to resolve a dispute between two Winder women.
The fight allegedly began at the Chevron on Hwy. 211 when one woman, Sherri, approached a second woman named Wendy.
Wendy, who was sitting in her car at the time of the incident, said she was talking to a man when Sherri swerved into the parking lot and started “yelling and cussing” at her. Wendy said Sherri reached into the car and grabbed her by the shirt. Wendy said she slapped Sherri, at which point the woman jumped into her car through the window and hit the gear shift causing the car to roll backwards. After getting the car in park, Wendy said she knocked Sherri down and then drove to the detention center.
Sherri told the deputy that Wendy started the fight by slapping her in the face. Sherri admitted grabbing Wendy after being slapped and claimed that Wendy “pulled her into the vehicle and drove off.” Sherri claimed to have been injured when she fell to the ground.
Both parties asked to press charges. No arrest was made due to the conflicting nature of their accounts of the incident. The parties were referred to Magistrate Court.
