After heightened complaints about how the Barrow County Animal Shelter is run, the county manager has asked the shelter’s former director to spend six weeks evaluating its operations.
“I have asked Jimmy Terrell to come back to the County on a part-time basis and to assess the Animal Control operation,” said Jock Connell in an email to the Barrow Journal on March 11. “Jimmy has agreed to do this and his first day is today.”

What you need is a experience Animal Shelter director to come and teach and direct those in the shelter and hire workers with experience working with animals..

I FEEL THAT THE SHELTER'S FORMER DIRECTOR IS NOT THE ONE FOR THE JOB. INSTEAD SOMEONE WITH EXPERIENCE OR KNOWLEDGE AND A FRESH POINT OF VIEW IN THIS AREA WOULD BE A BETTER CHOICE. LOOKS LIKE THE COUNTY MANAGER IS JUST WASTING TIME AND MONEY. I HAVE VISITED OTHER COUNTY SHELTERS AND LOOKS TO ME AS IF WE HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO...TO EVEN BE CALLED A "SHELTER".

The shelter needs someone who has experience working with foster homes animal rescue groups and volunteers as wall as working with large and small animas. They need management experience and not be a professional county employee!
