A Winder woman who said she was trying to keep her husband from getting his third DUI, is now facing a DUI of her own after being stopped by a Barrow County Sheriff’s Deputy.
A deputy traveling east on Atlanta Highway noticed a white GMC Yukon “having a hard time remaining within its lane of travel.” After the vehicle crossed over the fog line and into the grass, the driver over-corrected and crossed over the double yellow line almost striking a vehicle traveling west bound.
After noticing a strong odor of alcoholic beverage, the deputy asked the woman if she had consumed any alcoholic beverages.
The woman admitted she had been drinking and knew that she should not be driving, but was going to pick up her husband so that he would not get another DUI.
After failing field sobriety tests, the woman was placed under arrest and transported to the Barrow County Detention Center.
