A Winder-Barrow High School teacher has been named a top 10 finalist for recognition as the 2014 Georgia Teacher of the Year.
Brandon Mitchell, who teaches physical and environmental science, is the 2012-2013 Barrow County Teacher of the Year.
The Georgia Department of Education announced Monday that he was selected from a pool of 155 nominees for the statewide honor.

Brandon Mitchell is an incredibly fine teacher and person and deserves these honors. He and his wife Haley, the chorus teacher,selflessly serve the WBHS community at every juncture. I wish him the very best!
