Area judge involved in accident

Barrow County authorities are investigating a three-car accident involving Oconee County Superior Court Judge H. Patrick Haggard. The March 12, accident occurred mid-morning as Haggard was on his way to Atlanta from Athens on business. While stopped at the red light at the intersection of Patrick Mill Road and Highway 316, a truck struck his car from behind, pushing it into the car in front of him. Pending further investigation, the driver of the truck may be charged with following too closely. Haggard was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center to be checked for injuries.
