After a six-week investigation, Winder police on March 8 arrested a suspect in the Jan. 19 armed robbery of the Best Package Store on McNeal Road. Scott Dujuan Hazel, 25, of Monroe was charged with one count of armed robbery and was booked into the Barrow County Detention Center, according to a Winder Police Department press release.
The suspect was identified with the public's help after Winder officers circulated still photographs from the store’s video of the robbery. Before the suspect's arrest Friday, detectives from the Winder Police Department and officers from the Monroe Police Department searched his residence and seized several items of evidence. Hazel then was located at a job site and was taken into custody at the Suwanee Police Department.
“The Winder police would like to thank the public for assisting in this investigation,” the press release states.
