Chris Maddox made his first presentation to the Winder City Council in his new role as chairman of the Winder Downtown Development Authority this week. Maddox updated the mayor and council about the DDA’s strategic plan stemming from a February retreat with a team of consultants from the University of Georgia.
Among the goals are to make the licensing and permitting process more business friendly; to explore additional financial tools for downtown redevelopment; to establish new signage for downtown parking areas; to improve downtown events and to recruit volunteers for that effort; improving communication with other groups interested in the downtown area; and exploring how downtown events could generate more income in order to improve the area.
