Students arrested after joining ‘Fight Club’ trend

Three juvenile Apalachee High School students were arrested last week and charged with disorderly conduct after police got wind of a secret “fight club” that had been organizing brief bouts during school days and posting the clashes online. Fight clubs have surfaced in bars, schools and other places since the 1999 release of the movie, “Fight Club.” The flick wasn’t a blockbuster, but became a cult classic particularly among young men and teen-age boys.
According to published reports, the first rule of a fight club is to never talk about it. That’s also the second rule. But an AHS student worried about the potential for serious injuries did just that.
The unidentified student told school resource officers Scott Yoder and Bret Maxwell of the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office that multiple fights were occurring mostly in a designated boys’ restroom throughout the school day. Each bout lasted only 15 seconds, and video clips of two fights that were posted on Facebook showed the fighting was consensual.

Just another excuse to arrest children and put them in the "system".

I think the issue that is occuring is where this happens, AT A SCHOOL. My child needs no part of a school that allows this to occur. If they want to fight, do it outside of school. School is a place to learn, not a place to fight.

In the old days (you know - 1980's), the problem could have been handled in school with a trip to see Coach Berry or Mr. Orendorff and their paddles. Try to use corporal punishment today and parents would be outraged. So if you aren't willing to let the school handle it, that leaves law enforcement. Fighting is a crime - it's called battery.

These pigs are itching to put our children in the system for anything. They want the boy's to be weak and feminized, and give them criminal records and take away their rights. especially the second amendment. That way when they get older they will be able to control them better.

Are you referring to officers that put their life on the line everyday as pigs? Are you familiar with the job description of an SRO in a public school?

It sounds to me that the public education system as a whole wants to maintain an atmosphere that promotes a safe learning environment. It is not to parent children. Personally, I believe that there is a significant link to a child's behavior at home and his/her behavior at school.

Fact is, it starts at home. In many cases when a parent fails to parent a child in the ways of the world, this child struggles. This child struggles at school and in some cases for the rest of his/her life. Does parenting a child make them weak and feminized or prepare them for the world that awaits them?

Two things:

1. If society does not hold these boys accountable, whats happens when they enter society as adults?

2. What would the world be like if everyone was a "good" parent?

If there was still paddlings in school none of this would be happening. We wouldnt need SRO's in schools but thanks to the whiny A$$ parents BS of you cant paddle my child and everybody is a winner and nobody is a loser crap this is what you get.

I'm sure your opinion of these officers would be different had your child been involved in this "fight club". On the other hand, you probably would be proud of him, he would most definitely end up with a criminal record to match the one that you no doubt have. Show some respect for someone who is doing their job to protect our children, and teach them to have morals and respect. Lessons that are more than likely not being taught in the home.

My parents was hard on us growing up. My parents did not take no sh$% from me or my sister. As. I got older being the boy I was wild still in high school its not how the parents raze them. Kids are going to have a wild side no matter what happens. You give them a 1in they take a mile. You don't let them have fun and have there own life when they do get out they go crazy Cu's they never got to learn on there own soo really its not the parents. Its the youths ..
