Barrow County District 3 Commissioner Steve Worley is not facing criminal charges in connection with his recent termination as the public works director for the City of Monroe. Asked by the Barrow Journal to clarify whether the ongoing investigation is an internal probe of alleged violations of city polices and procedures, or a criminal probe, the city’s interim administrator responded in an email Tuesday that it is “internal.” Absent criminal charges, Worley cannot be forced out of his seat on the Barrow County Board of Commissioners. And he has expressed no intention of stepping down voluntarily.

The investigation is said to be "ongoing," so your buddy Whirley might yet see the inside of the calaboose. Regardless of that outcome, it is a disgrace for a sitting public offial to try and 'stonewall' his way out of his ignominious termination. Monroe has branded him as a thief and liar. If you can't see that as sufficient grounds to pry him from the Barrow teat, then you might be sucking from the same nipple.
