Winder’s municipal court soon will have a new judge on the bench. City finance director Leslie Henderson told the city council’s Finance & Benefits Committee last Thursday that the position is being advertised. The timing is not related to Judge June Davis’ handling of a recent case in Barrow County Magistrate Court that involved a Winder police officer who wrote a bad check to a grocery store, according to city officials. An internal investigation found no evidence to substantiate allegations of favoritism by Davis or her county staff.
