Fatal crash in Barrow County kills two

Two people were killed in a wreck Monday in Barrow County. A 2003 GMC Envoy driven by Kristina Marie Brown, 27, of Winder was traveling east on Georgia Highway 8 when the vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 1992 Honda Accord. The driver, Jess Willard Haygood, 80, of Norcross, and his passenger, Sara Pauline Haygood, 67, also of Norcross, were killed in the crash. Brown was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center for treatment. The Georgia State Patrol is awaiting the results of a blood test to determine if alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. Charges are pending the completion of a follow-up investigation by the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team from Gainesville.
