The Barrow County Board of Commissioners will have a total of five public hearings Tuesday night.
Two will begin before the start of the board's regular meeting. A 6 p.m. hearing will be about proposed amendments to the Animal Control Ordinance regarding dangerous and vicious dogs. A 6:30 p.m. hearing will be about installing streetlights on Mears Street.
Once the regular meeting starts at 7 p.m., the BOC will have public hearings on three land-use applications: a special use permit for the operation of a salvage yard on 4.4 acres at 774 West Winder Industrial Pkwy.; rezoning of 3.56 acres at 301 Bowman Mill Road to divide the site into two residential lots; and rezoning of about half of a 21-acre tract off Highway 211 just north of Winder to allow 29 single-family detached dwellings and a 104-unit apartment complex. The site is near where the future West Winder Bypass is to intersect with Highway 211. The BOC is scheduled to vote on each rezoning application following each public hearing.
