Two recent articles in the Barrow Journal about Walton International contained incomplete or erroneous data. An Aug. 29 article said that from the proceeds of a syndication of some property in Barrow County owned by Walton that four of the firm’s executive officers were to receive $7.7 million based on data from a SEC filing. The correct reading of the document is that those funds were used for the “acquisition of interest in real property owned by a subsidiary of the promoter.”
In an Oct. 24 editorial by publisher Mike Buffington, the article said that Walton’s Barrow Landing project had been syndicated to Asian investors. In fact, that tract has been syndicated to American investors through limited partnerships. It was the Statham tracts owned by Walton that were syndicated overseas.
The Journal regrets the errors.
