Barrow County voters on Election Day 2012 are contending with rain and cool temperatures outside the polls. The National Weather Service is calling for the rain to diminish to a few showers this afternoon, with total rainfall expected to be about a quarter of an inch. Temperatures are in the 40s and won't reach 50 degrees until around 2 p.m.
The polls opened at 7 a.m. and will close at 7 p.m.
As they do for all countywide elections, local law enforcement agencies are providing extra security by patrolling the county's 16 polling locations. No problems had been reported as of about 7:15 a.m.
