The Winder Downtown Development Authority, in cooperation with downtown merchants and local clubs, is sponsoring a big Halloween night event from 5-8 p.m. More than 30 businesses and organizations in the downtown district will hand out free sweet treats. And at the downtown gazebo park on the corner of North Broad and Candler will be free activities such as inflatables and train rides. Also at the park will be a costume contest: ages 0-3 will be judged from 5:15-5:45 p.m.; ages 4-6 from 5:45-6:15 p.m.; ages 7-9 from 6:15-6:45 p.m., and ages 10-12 from 6:45-7:15 p.m. The winner in each category will receive a $25 cash prize. And local organizations are providing paid activities such as face painting, apple bobbing and crazy Halloween hair, and food items such as cotton candy, nachos and peanuts.
“There is an abundance of public parking just across the street from the Railroad Depot on Porter Street and in the Winder Downtown Development Authority parking lot on the corner of Woodlawn Avenue and Candler Street,” said Meredith Cameron, director of the DDA. “In addition, there is parking available in parking lot behind City Hall. We will have parking signs up to direct people to these parking areas.”

Kids love Hallowen..
Don't forget to honor your dead ancestors with a bonefire and blot, the veil between life and death is thin this time of year.
Enjoy it.
