One of the developers of the Gateway at University Parkway of Highway 316 announced this week that the Varsity restaurant company has purchased a parcel in front of the new movie theater off Highway 316 in Barrow County and plans to open a Varsity Jr. by late spring of 2013. Wayne Bartlett said the company closed on the deal Monday.

This stuff is not food thats why they call it JUNK.

We get something new, or the city or county govts do anything, and all I ever see here is multiple people, probably the SAME PEOPLE spouting nothing but NEGATIVE ATTACKS on whatever the story is or ripping on Barrow County or the City of Winder, or our other towns or Any/All of our elected officals over and over.

We are honored to be selected as a location for a restaurant of which there are only a handfull or locations and EVERY COMMENT is NEGATIVE or A COMPLIANT. Get a LIFE all of you.

And if it proves a sucessful business enterprise, not only employing some people and drawing PEOPLE to SPEND MONEY IN BARROW, not Gwinnett or Clarke, It will possibly attract Other Businesses to Locate here, and It will collect more SALES TAX actually in and for Barrow for a change, and every additional business we can attract as well. -You "C&P" are probably among those who spend all your money out of county and FUND those Governments and Keep those counties in LOWER TAXES. And by the way, I also have no diabetes, heart disease and/or cancer, I have a job and pay for my own healthcare(do you?) but only a closed minded j*rk like yourself would judge EVERYONE blindly just because we get excited to see our community grow and proper...

Exactly my point all along! Thank you! There's nothing but complaining about every government local official or every progress made in the city and even the county simply because none of you can handle growth and progress which we desperatly need since doing nothing all these years didn't help either. If it wasn't for the Maynard family and the Maddox family you wouldn't have this nice development you see today or see Winder redevelopment and cleanup. Stop complaining and be glad that we are prospering and growing.

didn't like it. Tried the one in Gwinnett, didn't like it. Tried the one in Athens, didn't like it either BUT business is business and Barrow needs to stop running off businesses.

Personally, I'd like to see a soup and salad place open up or steak house like Outback.

This must be your idea of reverse psychology (hope I didn't use too big of a word for you Chokey-Puke), you must be a huge Obama supporter as you seem to be intimidated by this business growth and free choices. Most of us want to see our Community GROW and Prosper, and this addition is another step, plus it is along a Major Highway, so a large majority of travelers from OTHER Counties can finally help FUND our Government through sales taxes instead of typically the other way around in the past. Look Friend, You come across bi-polar, you make sense on some points but niss the picture on the other. Yes, I agree that the concept of "freedom" is being drained from our blood and we can't even see it happening, But your attacks on others, the community and at least some new enterprise, something New to add to our community, makes you seem like more a part of the problem. Your negativism overshadows any legitmate valid points. It's almost like you need to pick a side.

I would rather savor a ray of sunshine than just sit and curse the darkness like you seem to perfer. If we add to our community, it looks better, seems more viable, more attractive, it can attract others and more. Yes, we need industries, not just service jobs, but you have to start somewhere with something. Try being Supportive of your community for a change, or You can stay in the NEGATIVE mASSES that get us Nowhere.

I would love an Outback and a High-Tech Manufactorer, but we have to support the ones we have now...and be thankful we get something at all...

Why don't they focus on the traffic congestion?They need to make an alternative route to Hwy 316 instead of Hwy 81.It's like the N.J Turnpike out there!State of Georgia needs to come in and test the air quality from all the emmisions coming into the County.I guess i'll make that phone call.

If I remember correctly, our fearless leaders recently hired the former head of EPD to petition to make sure our county was removed from the counties required to have stiffer emissions controls. How's that for leadership. Since Hwy. 81 is a state highway, they are the ones to call about the boondoggle at 81 and 316. Of course, I don't know that GDOT is any better at planning than the county is.
