A fire destroyed a vacant house in Auburn early Wednesday morning on Sept. 17, according to the Barrow County Fire and Emergency Services.
When firefighters arrived at the Carolyn Street around 5 a.m., the house was heavily involved with flames showing through the roof.
“Our firefighters went into a defensive mode right away and were able to knock the fire down in a short time,” said Lt. Scott Dakin. “Due to the amount of fire upon our arrival the home was destroyed.”
Firefighters remained on the scene for several hours putting out hot spots. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Investigation Team and the Auburn Police Department.
