Municipal officials have requested a meeting with the Barrow County Board of Commissioners to present the cities’ perspective on a proposed 77-percent hike in the county’s wholesale water rate. The meeting, which is open to the public, starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, in the Winder Community Center.
The BOC’s second regular meeting of the month is tonight at 6 p.m. On the agenda is Kenny Shook, who will represent District 2 in January and has asked to speak about the Barrow County Airport. No votes are planned for this scheduled work session, but the following discussion items are on the agenda: the county’s policy on replacing county vehicles; the state-mandated registry requirement for vacant or foreclosed properties; the recent certification of the Sheriff’s Office; and a presentation on the NJUN System for wastewater treatment.
BOC meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday nights of each month on the second floor of the county government's administration building at 233 East Broad St., Winder.
