As announced earlier, there won’t be a millage rate hike this year for the Barrow County School System, but two members of the board of education believe it may be time to consider an increase. The Barrow County Board of Education officially set the millage rate at 18.5 mills in a called meeting Tuesday, the same rate it’s been for the last six years. Board members Rickey Bailey, Lynn Stephens Mitch Churchill, Will Dunn and chairman Mark Still voted in favor of the rate. But BOE members Connie Wehunt and Dan Cromer voted against the rate.
“You all want to raise (the rate?)” Stephens asked after the vote.
Wehunt answered, “We are going to have to do something.”
