The Auburn City Council appears to be headed for a split vote Thursday on the city’s proposed FY2013 budget, which includes a water rate increase and a town transit system that is currently operating at a loss. The council had previously tabled action on the $2.85 million budget after a motion to raise the town’s water rates didn’t get a second. It appears as if two members of the council, Robert Vogel and Peggy Langley, will vote against the proposed budget, a move that would force Mayor Linda Blechinger to break a tie. The mayor has previously spoken in favor of the budget.
