Water customers throughout Barrow County could soon get an idea of how much their water bills might rise. The chairman of the Barrow County Water & Sewerage Authority is on the agenda of Tuesday night’s meeting of the Barrow County Board of Commissioners to make a “water presentation.”
Stan Coley’s presentation will center around a recommended wholesale water rate and the justification of that rate. The WSA this summer agreed the BOC should raise the rate from the current $1.60 per 1,000 gallons to about $3 per 1,000 gallons. Barrow County sells municipal systems about 60 million gallons of water each month from the Bear Creek Reservoir. The higher wholesale rate would affect customers of all public water systems in Barrow County.

My water bill is already outrageous. I don't know if I can handle my bill doubling. I'm on septic, so I don't pay sewer fees, however, my water bill is already around $150 a month. If my water bill doubles, I may have to see about getting a well drilled!
