The Barrow County School System surpassed the 13,000-student mark for the first time, said Ken Greene, director of student services. However, the system’s overall growth rate has slowed, he said.
Green reported the enrollment figures to the Barrow Board of Education during its meeting Tuesday. The student totals collected this week showed a .72 percent increase compared to last year’s 1.26 percent increase recorded during the same holiday week, Green said. The growth rates over the 2009 and 2010 were just over 1.5 percent each year, according to statistics he presented to the board Tuesday.
