Chief Post thank you so much for taking the time to update Barrow citizens about the status of the Emergency 911 system. An ambulance stationed in Statham saved my Dad's life. The part that saved his life was the lightening transport straight to Athens. I do not have a problem with Procare, but PLEASE get the two (Statham & County Line) ambulances parked operating again. All the rhetoric in the world cannot dismiss good old common sense. Thank you.

Couldn't the county save money and increase the level of service if we privatized the ambulances?

But sending an ambulance to a lawnmoyer on fire. When their is no injuries and the fire is away from the house. You can't write enough articles and explain that to me. That is a waste of resources to me.

Have you ever seen the fire trucks from other counties? they have 3 or four firefighters on them. If you call for a fire truck here, you get two people. If the ambulance comes, you get four people (2+2=4).As taxpayers, we should be asking for more people on the fire trucks, not asking why an ambulance goes with a fire truck.

I agree on more people on a firetruck. But using a ambulance for calls like that is a was of resources and needs to be used for medical calls. If a ambulance is tied up on a small fire and a cardiac arrest call comes in it could delay their response. It just dosen't set well with me. If two guys can't handle a call as I said earlier in my post then they need to find a new profession.

and the cost! over $800 just to go to the local hospital a ten minute drive. nothing done but oxygen and iv etc i even walked to the ambulance and the guy implyed i was fat and commented on all the ties my husband owned. on one ride they hit a bump and the iv needle missed the vein. ohhhh just too much waste too many long unneccessary trips i should have went by car. but otherwise they were helpful

If you could walk to the ambulance maybe you did not need an ambulance. Have someone DRIVE you to the hospital and save the Medical Trucks for true emergencies!
