Barrow County Board of Commissioners Chairman Danny Yearwood has called a meeting of the BOC for 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, to approve a bond resolution for the refunding of millions of dollars in debt. The deal has been on hold for months as the county's bond attorneys and financial advisors watched and waited for ideal market conditions.
Wednesday morning's meeting announcement came with no information about the anticipated savings from the deal. There have been recent indications that it could yield about $2 million in interest savings for the county.
The savings, taken up front, would cover about half of the lease-purchase payments for the emergency radio system now under development.
