Separate accidents killed two people on Barrow County roads with a 24-hour period this week, Barrow County Coroner David Crosby confirmed.
A Monroe woman died at the scene of a wreck around 5:30 p.m. Thursday on Ga. Highway 11 and McElhannon Road in Bethlehem. The Georgia State Patrol identified her as Tamara Tinch, 20. She was the passenger of a 1995 Pontiac Sunfire being driven by Robert Stefan Heard, 20, of Monroe. Heard's car was traveling south on Ga. Highway 11 and attempting to make a U-turn in the middle of the roadway when it turned into the path of an oncoming vehicle, reported Gordy Wright, GSP spokesman.
Wesley Thomas Moore, 19, also of Monroe, was the driver of the northbound Chevrolet C15, which struck the Pontiac in the front passenger's door. Both vehicles left the road and came to rest in a ditch. Moore was taken to Clearview Regional Hospital, where he was treated and released.
Heard was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center in critical condition, and a second passenger in the Pontiac — Rebecca Justina Simon, 19, of Monroe — also was taken to the same hospital with injuries that were not life threatening, Wright said.
The accident followed another fatal wreck that happened less than 24 hours earlier near Statham. A 1994 Harley Davidson on Aug. 8 was traveling north on Wall Road south of Highway 316, when at 9:50 p.m. it crossed the centerline in a curve. The driver, 52-year-old Terry Lee of Bogart, over corrected and crashed. He was pronounced dead less than an hour later at Athens Regional, Crosby said.
Second, "who are you to judge"? You might need to ask yourself the same question, I mean If people have opinions it IS THEIR RIGHT & yours to freely express & voice your concerns. I believe that EVERY side of an issue should be analyzed therefore, thank you RETIREDANDGLAD for sharing your views on that accident, I agree with you totally, The driver definitely appears to be the cause & while he might be going through a tough time now, It ultimately could've been avoided had what he was trying to do, been done in legally in the correct manner. Now I send my hopes & prayers for all to be safe & drive carefully.
